Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has made Billboard Hot 100 history, spending its 20th week at No. 1 and becoming the longest-leading non-holiday song in the chart’s history. The milestone, reflected on the chart dated Sept. 5, puts Langley’s country crossover hit alone at the top of the non-holiday rankings after it surpassed the 19-week runs of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
Released Oct. 17, 2025, as the lead single from Langley’s sophomore album, “Dandelion,” the song first reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in February. Langley co-wrote the track with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. Its success has extended beyond the all-genre chart: “Choosin’ Texas” also became the first song by a woman to simultaneously top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.
The record leaves only one song ahead of Langley on the Hot 100’s all-time list. Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has accumulated 22 weeks at No. 1, with its reigns coming during the holiday season. “Choosin’ Texas,” by contrast, has reached 20 weeks without the benefit of a seasonal boost, making it the second song in the 68-year history of the Hot 100 to spend at least 20 weeks atop the chart.
The achievement adds to an extraordinary year for Langley, whose “Dandelion” also reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The singer is continuing her Dandelion Tour while “Choosin’ Texas” remains a dominant presence on the charts.
